For the Great Quarantine of 2020, I decided to finally do something I’ve thought about doing for years…build my own computer. After lots of YouTube videos and online research, now seemed to be the time to try this. The next few reviews will be some of the various parts for this build. This should be fun.
Item #4: The Graphics/Video Card. By far the most expensive part. Also a tough choice between GeForce or Radeon. I found an article from PCWorld which reviewed this one and the 2060 Ultra. I figured I’d save a few bucks with this one. Both seemed like good choices.
In the Box
EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Gaming Video Card, 06G-P4-2066-KR, 6GB GDDR6. Dual Fans, Metal Backplate
This is larger than I anticipated. Easy to mount and fits in place perfectly and snug. Tighten one screw to the back plate, and plug in the PCI-E Power and that’s it!
After 3 week of use
Everything seems great. I loaded a few games and the motion is smooth as can be. Other graphic intensive software seem to barely even register 25% usage.
Besides the cost, nothing else
This is a great card for gaming and non-gaming. At time of writing, graphics cards are hard to find. Don’t pay the crazy prices some places are asking for. Check inventory multiple times a day and you’ll find them, but they don’t last long.
