For the Great Quarantine of 2020, I decided to finally do something I’ve thought about doing for years…build my own computer. After lots of YouTube videos and online research, now seemed to be the time to try this. The next few reviews will be some of the various parts for this build. This should be fun.
Item #3: The Motherboard. This was another hard choice. There are so many choice and inventory was tough to find. Most boards had a 1 month wait at Amazon and Newegg. Amazon had these and it had great reviews.
In the Box
Gigabyte x570 AORUS Elite (AMD Ryzen 3000/X570/ATX/PCIe4.0/DDR4/USB3.1/Realtek ALC1200/Front USB Type-C//RGB Fusion 2.0/M.2 Thermal Guard/Gaming Motherboard). ….Yeah, that’s a mouthful
The construction of this board is beautiful. The layout is nice and spacious. It has lots of room for various accessories including NVME SSD drives if you wish to install those. The BIOS has lots of customization options, if you’re into that.
After 3 week of use
Very pleased with this so far. The IO port has plenty of USB 2 and 3 ports for use, including it’s own BIOS update USB port. Installing cables and fans were fairly simple.
My only complaint is that I wish it had more fan headers. My case came with 3 fans and this board has 3 fan headers + 1 for the CPU fan. If you want/need additional fans, you have to purchase a fan splitter.
Overall I’m very happy with this board. It meets all my needs as having multiple USB 2 and 3 ports and even a USB-C port. It has upgrade capabilities if you want to go the NVME route. It pairs nicely with the Ryzen 7 chip.
