AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

For the Great Quarantine of 2020, I decided to finally do something I’ve thought about doing for years…build my own computer.  After lots of YouTube videos and online research,  now seemed to be the time to try this. The next few reviews will be some of the various parts for this build. This should be fun.

Item #2: The Processor.  The second most expensive part.  Amazon and Newegg both had decent prices on this.   One of the best chips on the market as of this writing.

In the Box
AMD Ryzen 7 3700x chip, Instruction manual, Wraith Stock cooler.

Initial Impression
Looks great, the pins fit easily into the CPU Socket.  This also comes with the Wraith cooler.  Installation of the cooler was a bit tough. You really have to be firm in pushing it down in order to get the clamps on securely.

After 3 week of use
On CPU intensive programs, like Handbrake, this converted an hour long 1080p video in 40 minutes compared to 2 hours on the old PC.   Nice!   The RGB colors on the fan are pretty nice and change colors every few seconds.

None at this time

According to everyone on the interwebs, this chip is the Best Bang for the Buck.  I can’t argue with that.  8 cores and 16 threads of pure processing power.

5 out of 5 stars
