Dell S2419H Monitor

A few weeks ago, my computer monitor stopped working, only staying on for 2 seconds then going dark. It was an old Gateway 22 inch monitor. (Are they even still around?) Anyway, this gave me an excuse to upgrade. Dell had a sale on monitors and this one jumped out and said “Buy Me!”

In the Box
Dell S2419H computer monitor, HDMI cable, power cords/power brick. Quick setup guide.

Initial Impression
It is very shiny and new. It is not much wider than the old 22inch monitor, so desk real estate is about the same  Beautiful 1920×1080 resolution.  It is easy to connect the HDMI from computer to monitor.  This monitor also has built in speakers.

After 3 week of use
I’m very pleased with this monitor so far.  It has lots of scene settings, like Movie, Warm, Cool etc… The menu navigation is better than some monitors on the market.  It has nice guide arrows to point you to the correct buttons to push to change settings.

Negatives
I have to say I’m very disappointed in the built in speakers. I believe there is a cheaper model without the speakers, so choose that one and get some USB speakers. The sound was not even close to my cheap USB plug in speakers. Those sound like BOSE speakers compared to the built in speakers on this monitor. The sound was nasally and a bit whiny and weak, so that’s the major disappointment so far.

Conclusion
If I opted for the cheaper version without the speakers, this would be rated 5 out of 5. The speakers are a big letdown. The display is beautiful as is the overall form factor. Dell is always having sales with coupon codes, so this is a good buy for the price if you need simple 1080p monitor.

4 out of 5 stars
